A quartz thermometer with an FET oscillator
Abstract
The paper describes a simple quartz thermometer consisting of a quartz heat sensor with nearly linear temperature-frequency characteristics, an FET oscillator circuit and an electronic frequency meter. The temperature, measured in the range -40 to 100 C with an error of less than 0.02 C, is determined directly from the frequency of the excited quartz sensor. This fact permits the making of remote measurements, and the utilization of a computer for processing of measurement data without recourse to intermediate conversions.
