Study of some physical parameters and activity of comet Kohoutek /1973 XII/ on the basis of spectral data
Abstract
Seven spectrograms of comet Kohoutek are analyzed which were obtained in the period from January 16 to 31, 1974, with an image converter and a spectrograph attached to a 60-cm reflector. Seventy-four cometary emission features are identified, and the comet's relative spectral energy distribution is determined for four days in the observing period. Intensity variations of the emission features are examined as a function of solar activity. Absolute energy fluxes are computed, along with the abundances and partial masses of CN, C2, and C3 molecules in the comet's atmosphere.
