Study of solar far-ultraviolet radiation /Review/
Abstract
Studies of solar far-UV radiation based on spectra and spectroheliograms obtained from sounding rockets and space observatories over the wavelength range from 300 to 3000 A are reviewed. Various phenomena and physical conditions in the chromosphere, transition region, inner corona, active regions, and flares are discussed. Attention is given to far-UV line intensities, the solar UV continuum, Skylab observations, and motions in the upper solar atmosphere. Models of the chromosphere, transition region, and corona are examined.
