Optimized design of low-distortion monolithic wideband amplifiers
Abstract
A low-distortion monolithic wideband amplifier with a unique circuit configuration was realized after an extensive computer-aided circuit analysis. The choice of the circuit parameters was accomplished to ensure an optimized frequency response as well as minimized output distortion and noise. The final integrated circuit (IC) which was realized with a unique high-frequency bipolar process demonstrated a gain of 20 dB, with 370 MHz bandwidth. At 0 dBm signal levels, second and third-order intermodulation distortion levels were below -60 dB and -44dB respectively across the band. Terminal impedances were matched to 75 Omega with VSWR better than 1.7.
