Comparative analysis of single-element, matrix and mosaic photodetectors for the optical signals of point sources
Abstract
The possibility of determining the coordinates of point sources of weak optical signals by means of matrix photodetectors having storage and internal switching (devices with charge coupling, diode-photodiode devices, MOS-transistor photomatrices, etc.) is discussed. The limiting detection characteristics of the photodetectors are calculated, and they are compared with traditional mosaic photodetectors without storage (single- or multi-element).
