A solutiongenerating theorem with applications in general relativity
Abstract
The proof of a solutiongenerating theorem for the Einstein field equations is presented. The theorem is developed by generalization of Bonnor's (1961) theorem for static spacetimes to stationary spacetimes; the solutiongenerating theorem is shown to be contained in the symmetry transformations introduced by Kinnersley (1973). Applications of the solutiongenerating theorem to produce a static electrovacuum solution, a negativemass Schwarzschild solution, the Patnaik static electrovacuum solution, one of the Witten electrovacuum solutions, and a stationary electrovacuum solution are presented.
