Radar systems mature with SAW technology
Abstract
Use of surface acoustic wave (SAW) components to improve the performance of radar components is described. The article describes SAW-based devices for radar filtering operations, generation and decoding of quadraphase code, and stable local oscillator circuits. SAW basics, SAW applications in monopulse radar, and SAW code correlation are reviewed briefly. A SAW delay line is constructed as illustration. Noise performance and temperature drift of SAW components are studied.
