Phase noise performance of magnetrons
Abstract
A description is presented of the results of laboratory tests which have been conducted to obtain information concerning the spectral purity of magnetrons considered for missile and other applications involving low-weight and small-size device requirements. RF power device requirements are examined and the external RF signal control of magnetrons is considered, taking into account aspects of priming and questions of frequency injection. Attention is given to phase noise data obtained in laboratory stability tests, the lock-in range, and system configurations.
