L-band T/R module for airborne phased array
Abstract
The design of electronically agile solid state (ESUS) phased-array airborne surveillance radar systems and design constraints are discussed. Basic to the design of ESUS active-element phased-array radars are standardized transmit/receive (T/R) modules positioned to achieve space density tapering in side lobe control. Interrelated design constraints applicable to T/R modules are outlined (ruggedness for carrier-based aircraft, low side lobe performance, pulsed waveforms with high time-bandwidth products, ease of fabrication, reliability). Space density tapering for adaptive side lobe control is discussed.
