One-dimensional flows of polarizable or magnetizable ideal gas
Abstract
One-dimensional steady nondissipative streams of an electrically polarizable and magnetizable ideal gas in a tube of flow are analyzed, assuming that the permittivity and magnetic permeability are functions of the density and temperature of the gas. A generalized Bernoulli equation and a differential relation are derived which define the acceleration conditions and the conditions for continuous passage across the sound barrier for such flows. Several special cases are examined.
