The stability of planeparallel flows whose viscosity is dependent on coordinates
Abstract
The generalized OrrSommerfeld theory is investigated to determine the conditions in which inclusion of the viscosity coordinate dependence affects results obtained by the linear theory. For this purpose, the stability of a model fluid flow in a plane channel with parallel walls is analyzed. The solution of the generalized equation with coordinate velocity and viscosity profiles is compared with the classical OrrSommerfeld solution with the same velocity profile.
