Extended static stellar atmospheres - IV. Study of an F giant.
Abstract
Effects of atmospheric extension are studied for the population II F giant HD 116745 (T-eff 6550 plus of minus 150 K, log g 1.0 plus or minus 0.3, a mass ratio of 0.37). The stellar atmosphere is compact (a mass ratio of 0.74) to moderately extended (a mass ratio of 0.19) and the approximation of plane-parallel stratification may be inadequate to interpret high-accuracy observations of this star or other stars with similar stellar parameters. Simple curve-of-growth analyses are hardly affected.
