Microwave dielectrics under high temperature conditions
Abstract
The work reviews methods and equipment for the high-temperature testing of microwave dielectrics and for the simulation of such operational conditions as the aerodynamic heating of aircraft radomes. Consideration is given to waveguide, optical and resonator methods for measuring the temperature dependence of dielectrics, and the study of dielectrics in free space is discussed. Techniques for achieving high temperatures under lab conditions are examined along with the accuracy of microwave methods for measuring dielectric properties. Experimental data (static measurements of electrical properties, dynamic characteristics of RF parameters, noise measurements, measurements of the radiation characteristics of antenna windows) are used for the prediction and optimization of the operational characteristics of microwave dielectrics.
