Equipment needed for setting up major operating centers
Abstract
The major operating center (centre principal d'exploitation - CPE) concept and its relation to telephone and telecommunications system automatic dial exchanges, administrative problems, and equipment required are discussed; four years of experience with CPE are reviewed. Equipment already available for transmission of alarms is described, along with second-generation equipment now on the way. Definition and centralization of a network of tests and measures, display systems, data retransmission lines, remote surveillance lines, traffic surveillance hardware, and assignment of district coverage are among the topics dealt with.
