Linear Light Output Power Dependence on Effective Gain Width in Stripe Geometry (Al, Ga) As DH Lasers
Abstract
In the current confinement stripe geometry DH lasers, such as proton-bombarded and planar stripe lasers, it was found that the range of linear light output power below the first kink in the current vs. light output (I-L) curve increases with decreasing gain region width. Linear I-L curves with the fundamental horizontal transverse mode in a practical power range can be obtained in the proton-bombarded or planar stripe lasers with a reduced gain width.
