Color contrast equipment and its significance in pattern data analysis

Basics of optical contrast and its perception, and engineering realization of data processing and display equipment utilizing or enhancing contrast in color and/or intensity, are discussed. Sensitivity thresholds of the human eye to color and brightness contrasts, and eye fatigue in contrast discernment tasks, are dealt with. Conversion of black/white imagery to color imagery via digital and hybrid means is discussed along with false-color data presentation, and applications in data display and pattern recognition.
