a History of the Communication Satellite
Abstract
Early writings relating to the possibility of communication satellites, including the work of Newton, Tsiolkowsky and Clarke, are reviewed. Attention is given to passive and active communication satellites and to a number of realizations of communication-satellite possibilities. The activities of the U.S. and U.S.S.R. in this field are discussed along with future possibilities.
