Properties of low energy ions observed in the Skylab cosmic ray experiment.
Abstract
Results are reported for a detailed analysis of low-energy cosmic-ray nuclei of the oxygen and iron groups detected on Skylab. A relatively high flux of oxygen-group nuclei was apparently detected, and an attempt is made to describe the energy spectrum of these nuclei. Fluxes of Mg-Ar nuclei are given for energies of 13.0, 22.1, and 72.4 MeV; an O:Mg-Ar:Fe ratio of 120:14:1 is obtained at about 70 MeV/amu. The data are taken as supporting a previously proposed two-component model.
