Calculation of rotor currents for the rectified superconducting alternator
Abstract
An algorithm for computing rotor currents of a rectified superconducting alternator is presented. An earlier analysis (Franklin, 1972) worked out for conventional rectified alternators, and employing a linearization to find the rotor currents, is extended by allowing nonlinearities and utilizing a Newton-Raphson algorithm. The behavior of a 3-phase 400 Hz 10 MVA/5 kV machine is simulated.
