Quadratic friction effect in multi-level nonlinear systems
Abstract
Consideration is given to a multi-level nonlinear system with a small number of degrees of freedom, whose equations of motion, in the absence of external forces and dissipation, have the general properties of the hydrodynamic equations of an incompressible fluid. Energy flux to smaller scales is modeled by quadratic friction. Steady state flow solutions are obtained and their stability is examined.
