Rotating drum cameras for high speed photography
Abstract
The operation of a rotating drum, rotating mirror framing camera is based on an optical shuttering technique eliminating complex mechanisms and improving reliability. Such cameras offer continuous access capability, constant recording rates, economy of operation, and the rapid sequencing, processing, and analysis of shots. Applications include investigations in cloud physics, holography, observing failure mechanisms in high-speed machinery, ballistics, gas combustion, cavitation in liquids, and hypervelocity impacts.
