Limits imposed on the concentration and size of tracer particles in laser-Doppler anemometry
Abstract
In measuring turbulent flow by Laser-Doppler Anemometry, the tracer particles employed should not influence the turbulence and they should completely indicate the turbulent motions. These two conditions lead to criteria from which maximum values for the concentration and size of the tracer particles are obtained. If the particle size exceeds this value, then the turbulent energy spectrum can still be determined by the use of correction factors.
