Multifrequency microwave holography
Abstract
The paper deals with a theoretical and experimental investigation of multifrequency holographic imaging method in the microwave region. The fundamental relations for reconstructing a multifrequency hologram are derived. Then the ambiguity function of the imaging system is discussed, especially with reference to the resolving power in the case of a wide-band imaging signal. The results are confirmed by experiments. Microwave images of a typical object arrangement show that object structures can usually be satisfactorily recognized only by using a wideband technique. The investigations demonstrate that the multifrequency holographic imaging system has advantages mainly at close range.
