Solutions of the wave equation which decay with respect to time at a prescribed rate
Abstract
The initialboundary value problem for the wave equation in the region between two infinite parallel planes is considered, and it is shown how the initial data can be chosen so that the solution decays with time at a prescribed rate. An outline is then given, showing how the same result can be obtained for an annulus and for two bodies having only part of their surfaces flat and parallel to each other.
