A computer simulation oriented approach to the error rate evaluation of DCPSK non linear receivers
Abstract
A method for calculating the signal error probability of a differentiallycoherent phase shift keying system containing a bandpass nonlinear device in the receiver frontend is discussed. The bandpass characteristics are represented by two deterministic functions describing the AM/AM and AM/PM conversion effects of the nonlinear device. The effects of timing jitter on the error probability computation are also examined. A numerical evaluation of the error probability expression is presented; an example involving a simulation program formed by a set of samples obtained by filtering a fourphase modulated signal with a fivepole Butterworth filter is given.
