It is pointed out that a star field on photographic plates is a two-dimensional distribution of points which may be compared with a two-dimensional distribution of points generated at random. A comparison is conducted of the distribution of the points in Markarian's chain with accidental chains obtained with the aid of a random number generator. Attention is given to artificial chains of points, the inner structure of Markarian's chain of points from a statistical point of view, and NGC 4473 and NGC 4406 in Markarian's chain. It is found that the inner structure of Markarian's chain is not in conformity with the considered statistical distribution. The galaxies with the largest radial velocities are found to be intruders.
