Spectroscopic observations and curve-of-growth analyses of the four A stars omicron Peg, beta Ari, kappa Ari and 32 Vir.
Abstract
High dispersion spectrograms were obtained of four A-type stars that are known, or suspected, Am stars. A differential curve-of-growth method was employed to find the compositions of these stars; Procyon was used as a standard. 0 Peg was confirmed to be a hot Am star. p Ari, a moderately rapid rotator, may be a marginal Am star. The two components of K Ari, a double-lined spectroscopic binary, are found to be identical, showing strong Am characteristics. 32 Vir is also strongly metallic, but previous reports of spectral variations in this star were not confirmed. Key word: metallic-line A stars
