Mass loss and the parameters of close binaries.
Abstract
Summary. The change of parameters for a close binary in which one of the components loses mass through the internal Lagrangian point is investigated. The axial rotation of the component losing mass is taken into consideration. When the rotation of the primary component is not synchronized with rotation of the system as a whole, more than 80 per cent of the matter passed through the internal Lagrangian point is shown to escape from the system, and the system contracts by at least 10 times. Synchronous rotation is not restored as a consequence of mass loss. Key words: close binaries - mass loss stellar rotation
