TIBRO-X: A code to compute trajectories of charged particles in magnetic fields
Abstract
TIBRO-X is a code for computing trajectories of charged particles in magnetic fields. It is based on an earlier code TIBRO, which was developed to study nonadiabatic behavior of ions trapped by magnetic mirror fields. Modifications have been made to enable it to also be used to study properties of untrapped ions. Some features include computation of the instantaneous particle gyrocenter; capability of starting a particle gyrating with a specific v/sub parallel/, v/sub perpendicular/, and phase about a specified field line; and superposed plots of field line and subsequent gyrocenter trajectories. Magnetic fields may be computed from analytic expressions, from MAFCO subroutines, or via interpolation on a grid.
