The evolution of pulsed power
Abstract
A review of pulse power developments is presented from the viewpoint of low duty-cycle, high power, high voltage generator technology. The effects of increasing duty-cycle upon dielectrics, switching, generator form and engineering problems are briefly discussed. Recognizing the importance of power conditioning and prime power management, the limitations and fundamental importance of pulsed power techniques are explored with reference to the Controlled Thermonuclear Reaction field.
