Pulser-sustainer glow discharge operation in static carbon monoxide laser mixtures
Abstract
Successful operation of the pulser-sustainer concept is reported in large volume static room temperature CO laser mixes. High voltage pulses and ultraviolet sparks at 33 kHz combined with a separate low voltage sustainer electric field produce spatially uniform plasmas in a 3.0 liter volume. Completely independent control of ne and E/N is demonstrated. The tests are preliminary to testing of the concept in supersonic flow.
