Powdered and pelletized samples of carbon black were oxidized to determine the effect of this phenomenon on the establishment of electron spins. The oxidation of carbon black was found to be characterized by specific EPR properties: a resonance line with a small width at half-maximum and a g factor in the vicinity of 2.0035.
