Use of the collocation method to solve diffusion equations
Abstract
A collocation method is used to solve an unsteady boundary value problem for an equation describing convective heat transfer with time and spacedependent diffusion coefficients. With a step decrease, the approximation error of the equations obtained tends to zero. Prediction shows that the approximate equations are stable, have a unique solution, and that this solution is reduced to that of an analytical problem.
