Investigation of radiative heat transfer at cryogenic temperatures
Abstract
A method is presented for calculating temperature fields in steady and unsteady state conditions in systems consisting of metallic, semitransparent, and metallic-semitransparent screens, as well as in continuous semitransparent media at cryogenic temperatures. Experiments were conducted at liquid nitrogen and helium temperatures to investigate radiative and conductive heat transfer in systems of copper screens, plastic screens and combined aluminum-plastic screens. A system of nonlinear differential equations describing thermal stabilization in a system of metal screens is found to agree well with experimental results.
