Investigation of turbulent and pseudoturbulent transfer processes in two-component flows
Abstract
Previous studies of transfer processes in turbulent gas-suspension flows containing finely dispersed particles are reviewed. Pulsational motion of fine particles is analyzed for the case where the particle trajectories coincide with the flow lines. Results obtained for the case of isotropic carrier-gas turbulence are generalized to the case of three-dimensional particle motion, the motion of larger particles (about 1 mm in diameter) in a turbulent flow is examined, and it is shown how characteristics of pseudoturbulent particle motion can be calculated. Experimental results concerning the characteristics of transverse migration of large particles are used to verify the theoretical findings.
