AN/FRC-162 digital radio characterization
Abstract
Two AN/FRC-162 radios were tested in a simplex back-to-back configuration to determine standards, alignment procedures, and operational parameters in accordance with Digital European Backbone (DEB) system requirements. The transmitter was FM modulated with a three-level partial response digital baseband signal at a rate of 12.5526 Mbps. Selected tests were conducted with and without pilot and orderwire signals to determine RF spectral bandwidth. Curves were run on the output of the AFCS Baseband Degradation Monitor as a function of RSL and BER. The transmit RF spectrum was evaluated in accordance with 99% bandwidth and FCC mask (Docket No. 19311) criteria to determine bandwidth characteristics.
