Deep inelastic scattering in a Reggeised symmetry model
Abstract
The phenomena of deep inelastic electroproduction and nucleon Compton scattering at high energy are systematically investigated within the framework of a Reggeised symmetry model. Using duality as the essential theoretical concept, the high omega-behavior of the structure functions is derived from the Reggeisation prescription due to Van Hove, and the low omega-behavior is obtained from the dispersion relation approach due to Schwinger. Such a unified treatment avoids many ad hoc assumptions current in the literature and results in a simple phenomenological description of the virtual photon-nucleon scattering processes.
