ICARUS  A onedimensional plasma diffusion code
Abstract
A description is presented of the construction of a computer model which simulates the physical behavior of a plasma discharge. Tokamak code Icarus, which is used as an example, employs the Olympus programming system. The Olympus system has the objective to establish a clear standard structure for FORTRAN programs of a similar kind. The computer code Icarus provides the solution to a set of N partial differential equations which describe the temporal evolution of N dependent variables as a function of time and a single spatial coordinate.
