Formation and propagation of near atmospherics
Abstract
The most common types of atmospherics (two diurnal and one nocturnal) were analyzed on the basis of a ray-tracing representation of the field of the earth-ionosphere waveguide. Nocturnal atmospherics differ from diurnal ones, in that they have an irregular shape with narrow spikes, a greater amplitude and a smaller half-wave duration. The effect of variations of ionospheric parameters on the shape of a total atmospheric at a distance of 1100 km from the discharge is studied.
