Affine solution for compiling 88mm, 210mm, and 305mm photography on a standard Kelsh plotter
Abstract
Affine solution for stereocompilation in the standard 153 mm Kelsh plotter and other projection plotters means that the Z (elevation) scale will always bear a proportionate relationship with the X and Y (planimetric) scale in the stereo model. Particular attention is given to understanding the proportionate Z, optimum resolution on the Kelsh, and selecting the tracing table gears as the tracing table readout dial is mechanical in the Kelsh plotter. The computational procedure for some practical examples of the affine solution for a standard Kelsh plotter is described. The examples are discussed for compiling 88 mm photography at 5X magnification, 305 mm photography at 4X magnification, 210 mm photography at 5X magnification, and 88 mm photography at 4X magnification. The use of the affine solution with the Kelsh plotter has gained acceptance in the field.
