Current trends in methods of modeling turbulent flow patterns
Abstract
Methods from the physics of continuous media, quantum field theory, and tensorial analysis of turbulence/viscosity/strain are marshalled to develop a unified approach to turbulent fields. Transformations to and from physical space and Fourier spectral space are used as a tool. Closure of the system of equations in either space when dealing with an infinite hierarchy of equations describing averages in turbulent phenomena, homogeneity and inhomogeneity in turbulent fields, modeling of equations to scale, and turbulent share flows are discussed.
