Flows of a viscous incompressible fluid past bodies of revolution. II  Third approximation
Abstract
The analysis concerns the second terms for the outer region and the third terms for the inner region containing the vortex wake in the asymptotic expansion of the NavierStokes equations. Matching the terms leads to a system of coupled boundary value problems. The solution of this system is obtained in explicit form. Regularization of the functions appearing in the system enables writing a third approximation, which is uniformly valid in a whole neighborhood of an infinitely removed point. Results are compared with exact estimates of the behavior at large distances of a sufficiently smooth solution of a flow boundary value problem for which the Dirichlet integral is finite.
