Methods and devices for measuring strain during low-cycle loading /Review/
Abstract
An elastoplastic cyclic strain was produced in a tubular specimen of austenitic stainless steel by tensile-compressive load applied by the soft loading method in a fatigue testing machine, and the average strain of the specimen was determined using a longitudinal tensometer. Curves are plotted for the distribution of cyclic strain and cumulative damage for the specimen. Various tensometers are described including contact and contactless tensometers, optical tensometers and tensometers with resistance strain gages and inductance sensors. Schematic diagrams are presented for the different tensometers.
