Some unsteadystate boundarylayer problems
Abstract
The paper examines some unsteadystate laminarboundarylayer problems that are selfsimilar in the steadystate case. These include the unsteadystate FalknerSkan problem for an incompressible fluid, the uniformly accelerating motion of a cylinder, the pulsed motion of a semiinfinite plate in an incompressible fluid, and the unsteady motion of a largeaspectratio body of revolution. Numerical solutions are obtained, and the selfsimilarity of each problem considered is demonstrated.
