The Uragan-2 stellarator-type experimental thermonuclear device
Abstract
Uragan-2 is an improved version of the racetrack stellarator Uragan-1M. The principle modifications that resulted in an increase in magnetic field intensity from the initial 10 kOe to 20 kOe are discussed. The increase in intensity made it possible to study and to confine plasmas with densities on the order of 10 to the thirteenth power per cu cm and temperatures of 1 keV. Some design and engineering features of some elements and subsystems are examined, and the structure of the magnetic field is studied.
