Size distribution of vapor voids in boiling of a subcooled liquid inside a duct
Abstract
An explicit expression for the size-distribution function of vapor bubbles in a two-phase channel flow is analyzed for conditions of surface boiling of an underheated liquid. An analytical solution for boiling at the channel inlet is derived, neglecting bubble fusion and breakup. The behavior of the vapor content and the amount of heat transferred to the liquid under conditions of vapor bubble condensation along the channel length is calculated. A correlation between the heat of vapor-bubble condensation, the vapor content, and local underheating of the liquid is obtained.
