Approximate method of determining the degree of ionization of elements as a function of temperature
Abstract
It has been shown that simultaneous solution of the Saha equation, Dalton equation and quasineutrality equation, with allowance for the production of various ions by elementary reactions, provides relatively complete information on the composition of an equilibrium plasma. Excluding the possibility of charged particle generation by elementary reactions, the plasma composition can be determined if the degree of ionization of the chemical element at a specified temperature is known. In the present paper, a method is proposed for determining the first, second, and third degree of ionization of an element, as a function of the temperature, from the known potentials of the corresponding ionization stages.
