Holographic effects in the camera obscura
Abstract
The Fresnel transform of the response function of the camera obscura is analyzed for the case of incoherent monochromatic light. It is shown that the photographic plate recording the image of an incoherent monochromatic light source in the Fresnel diffraction zone has certain properties of a hologram. When a hologram obtained in coherent light is illuminated by incoherent monochromatic light, the image of the object recorded in the hologram appears in the Fresnel diffraction zone.
