Shock wave structure in an Ar-He mixture
Abstract
The paper investigates shock wave structure in an Ar-He mixture in the framework of the kinetics of translational relaxation. Experiments were conducted in a low-density wind tunnel at a Mach number of about 2. An electron-beam technique was used to stimulate emission from the gas mixture, thus permitting determination of the shock structure. Gas density and temperature profiles were measured, along with shock wave velocity.
