Distribution of turbulence intensity in the case of developed flow in a channel of constant cross section
Abstract
The paper examines the energy equation for a fully developed turbulent stream in a steady two-dimensional shear flow in a channel of constant curvature and derives an equation for the energy equilibrium across the channel. The generation of turbulent energy at any point of the channel section becomes equal to its dissipation into heat and convective turbulent transfer in the direction of the transverse coordinate. It is shown that turbulent energy transfer is significant only for vortices of nearly equal wave number.
